Self Portrait.

My self-portraiture project is inspired by Afrofuturism. Some of the pieces of media that influenced this series are Dirty Computer by Janelle Monáe, BUBBA by Kaytranada, Planet Her by Doja Cat and the aesthetics of Black Panther. The series reimagines my personal journey through a retro sci-fi lens.

The series of images follows an alien boy who crash landed on an unfamiliar planet outside of his solar system. This new world doesn't have any life, instead it's a planet that gives whoever comes across it the power to unlock their true potential. It doesn't happen immediately but slowly, the planet begins to reveal a different version of himself. This new version isn't something that he was given. It's something that always lived within him and the planet only allowed him to truly see it for the first time.
